Orange County Beach Wedding Venue: Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach- Chic Productions

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa is what I like to call a “Wedding Destination.” This means it is a location that couples choose to marry at because there is more to do at the resort than just the typical hotel. Some of our clients that have been married at this venue are from as far as London, England (wearing their lovely hats and everything!) and then from places across the Pacific like Tokyo and Hong Kong. Of course we get plenty of brides from the East Coast and right here in our own hometown.

What your guests will love:
The resort has everything you need on property. Many restaurants, bars, retail shops, a grocery store, an arcade, a bridge to the beach, pools, water slides and so much more! It is located just over 1.5 miles from the Huntington Beach Pier and the restaurants, shops and bars on Main St.

What you will love:
Shimmering views of the Pacific Ocean with golden sunsets over the water. No need to transform the event space! The Andalusian architecture creates the perfect setting for your celebration! Tons of event locations both with and without ocean views. Gorgeous fountains, a bridge to the beach for the perfect sunset shot and staff that will make everything go smoothly from beginning to end.

What I love:
Impressive food both in presentation and taste (even the chicken is fabulous!) The staff works well as a team and has more longevity than most venues. They keep their linens, landscape, structures and equipment in great shape. The ballrooms have some great structural elements (like ceiling beams, columns and curtains) that make it feel less ballroom-ish. The Grand Ballroom can fit 1,400 people…so if you are having a big wedding and you want something with an ocean view, this is the location for you!

Things you will need to take into consideration:
If you have your ceremony on the Lighthouse Lawn, the bridge cannot be closed to public traffic. My workaround? Give hotel guests cookies and snacks on both sides of the bridge so they wait a little while until the ceremony is done.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach requires a wedding planner to assist you with your wedding planning needs. The Chic Productions team works there all the time, has great relationships and can make things run smoothly for you and your guests before, during and after your wedding day!

New Wedding Trend: Flowers In Her Hair…

Flowers in her hair

Why limit the fun of flowers to just the bride and her bridesmaids? Create a flower affair for all of the women attending your wedding! They will feel gorgeous and have so much fun doing something different…now THAT is unexpected!

Create headbands, clips, barrettes, wristlets and even loose blooms with hairpins that the ladies can accessorize with. You can create a display such as this one or have some of your friends pass them out using baskets of blooms. Be sure that you have enough to replenish with because they will be snatched up very quickly!

I recommend doing this prior to the ceremony or during the cocktail reception so they have their flowers early enough in the celebration to enjoy. Just be mindful that you might need to allow a few extra minutes to start the wedding because this is going to be a hit!

Twinkle Moments

Twinkle Moments Petal Toss- Chic Productions

I am inspired to create this post from a wedding I had the privilege of planning last week in Huntington Beach, California. The wedding planning process was fabulous, just like all of the other weddings I’ve been able to help create. But something was very different about this particular wedding.

The feeling was different.

Instead of looking for ways to make the wedding prettier or more luxurious, both of which happened naturally, the focus was on what would be meaningful. It seemed that there were times throughout the day where these wonderful magical moments, “Twinkle Moments” as I call them, were created that had great significance for the couple, the family and even the guests.

I felt it begin during the planning stages when we talked about the unexpected elements some of the family members were adding into the wedding without the couple even knowing. But the magic manifested itself throughout the wedding day as more events were added that would bring more meaning to the celebration.

Being the wedding planner and interacting with each person involved in the wedding day put me in awe. Never have I seen so much thought go into each part of the day from the family members. Never have I seen such synergy from every wedding team member to give more, to make things mean more…we all felt the difference.

I often speak of “Twinkle Moments” to those I work with. These are the moments you observe or participate in that make you tingle inside. The ones that speak to your soul and bring brilliance to your life. For me, it normally happens during the time the bride is just with her Dad (and in this wedding it was her Dad and Step-Dad.) That quiet moment where the energy in the air is all nerves and excitement. Where the bride is taking the next step in her life, and her dad(s) are setting her free.

But this wedding had many Twinkle Moments for me. I felt them when the bride’s mom and I created a special moment prior to the wedding involving the dads, watching the groom get emotional when seeing his bride for the first time in her gown, when the groom’s dad watched his son marry the girl of his dreams standing among the groomsmen, when the bride’s step-dad gave his welcome speech, the bride’s brother’s speech, the surprise petal toss during their first dance, and when the DJ dedicated a song to the right person at the right time. Everything was done out of love. I felt like I too was the lucky one, because I was able to help create some of these moments and observe the outcomes.

Moving forward I’m going to add in one more question when planning with my clients, a thought provoking and revealing one that will change not only how they spend their money, but how they view their entire wedding celebration…”What will make your wedding day more meaningful?”

May you be inspired!

Inspiration Board | Pretty As A Peacock

A few years ago I did a peacock themed wedding in Palm Springs. It got some great press from Ceremony Magazine because it was just gorgeous. I have another bride looking for some peacock ideas, so I thought I would put this Peacock Inspiration Board together for her and then post the resources for peacock feather as well.

There are several color combinations you can create based on the peacock feather (many more than I have even listed here):

  • Brown and Peacock Blue/ Teal/ Turquoise/ Green/ Yellow
  • Peacock Blue/ Teal/ Turquoise/ Green and Yellow
  • Peacock Blue/ Teal/ Turquoise and Green
  • Peacock Blue/ Teal/ Turquoise and Pink (Yes pink! It looks pretty cool.)

The feathers can elegantly adorn any of your wedding decor. Here are a few images to start you off:

While professionals designed what you see here, you can find peacock feathers for your wedding theme in a variety of places. Here is one to begin with:

Oriental Trading Company: $9.95 for 24 feathers
Lamplight Feather: Prices vary depending on length and quantity

11 Wedding Trends We Predict for 2011

1. Honeysuckle
Of course I LOVE the color of the year…it is pink!  A gorgeous pink at that!  While Honeysuckle is predicted to be the color for Spring, I see it continuing through Summer when Coral Rose moves into the spotlight in early Fall.  (Come to think of it, I have seen a lot of Coral Rose and Regatta out there in the stores already!) I am loving Silver Peony and Silver Cloud as a combination too! Continue reading
